In the movie Fram för lilla Märta eller På livets ödesvägar (1945), an unemployed musician finds himself in need of work. His best friend sees an advertisement for a cellist position, but there's a catch - the job is for a female musician. To secure the job, the musician creates a female alter ego named Märta Letterström and joins a trio at a small-town hotel.
